Cajeput
Melaleuca cajuputi

Cajeput essential oil from Melaleuca cajuputi is dominated by 1,8-cineole, terpinen-4-ol, and alpha-terpineol — a profile closely related to tea tree oil (M. alternifolia) — and has been used as a broad-spectrum antiseptic agent since the eighteenth century. A systematic review of the Melaleuca genus confirms potent antimicrobial activity across the family.[1] In vitro studies have also demonstrated activity against mycobacterial species, including drug-resistant strains.[2]
