Elemi
Canarium luzonicum

Elemi essential oil from the oleoresin of Canarium luzonicum contains limonene as the dominant constituent (~54%), with alpha-phellandrene (~14%), elemol (~10%), and the phenylpropanoid elemicin contributing to its fresh, balsamic, slightly spicy character. The oil has been investigated for anti-inflammatory and anticancer activity, with a nanocapsule formulation demonstrating attenuation of oxidative stress and apoptotic pathways in a lung cancer model.[1] A closely related Canarium species oleoresin essential oil has been shown to promote wound healing and modulate the pro-inflammatory response in UV-stimulated human keratinocytes.[2]
