Guaiacwood
Bulnesia sarmientoi

Guaiacwood essential oil (Bulnesia sarmientoi) is unusual among woody oils for its very high content of guaiol and bulnesol — sesquiterpene alcohols that give the oil its thick, rose-wood character and contribute to its fixative use in perfumery. Guaiol has demonstrated anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties, and the oil is valued as a sustainable alternative to rosewood (Aniba rosaeodora).[1]
