Hinoki
Chamaecyparis obtusa

Hinoki essential oil (Chamaecyparis obtusa) is a Japanese cypress oil rich in alpha-pinene, sabinene, and bornyl acetate, with the sesquiterpene beta-eudesmol as a distinguishing constituent. The oil has demonstrated antimicrobial activity against dermatophytes and skin pathogens, and beta-eudesmol shows sedative effects in animal models.[1] Hinoki is culturally associated with shinrin-yoku (forest bathing) and has been shown to reduce sympathetic nervous system activity in human studies.[2]
